They see others' needs as opportunities to help. Ancient Israel would have understood this concept of stewardship. Jesus modeled it perfectly.

We value honor. It acknowledges the God-given role Mom and Dad play in shaping our futures. Of course, parenting is complex, and every parent fails. Nevertheless, Mom and Dad have a high calling, giving their kids their first glimpse of God and shaping a glorious future. While they are not always thanked, Mom and Dad deserve honor, which includes cares and esteem. And when we actively honor Mom and Dad, it trickles into a life of honoring other.

We value talk. It improves the family dynamic, learning to listen to, learn from, and draw out one another. Talking is of such great value, in fact, that God used it to create the world, call His people, and pass along His truth from one generation to another. Deuteronomy assumes the central role of "family talk" in the ongoing health of His people. When we talk, it builds faith and family bonds.
